Montenegro's EU Integration: Key Obligations Discussed

The European Union (EU) delegation in Montenegro emphasized the importance of fulfilling key obligations in the rule of law, including the establishment of the Central Election Commission (CIK), completing the election of members of the Judicial Council, and adopting the second package of constitutional amendments related to immunity and integrity checks of high officials. The delegation welcomed the recent adoption of constitutional amendments and encouraged pro-European political forces to continue supporting European reforms despite their differences. Representatives of the government and opposition met at the EU delegation to discuss draft constitutional amendments regarding the introduction of mandatory prior verification of integrity for candidates and members of the government, but no concrete agreements were made.
