Pakistan's Stance on Saudi Arabia's Defense Amid Houthi Attacks

Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif stated that the time has come to implement the Mecca defense agreement with Saudi Arabia and Turkey as Houthi attacks on the kingdom intensify. Despite denying targeting the holy city, Houthi officials have escalated their attacks on Saudi oil facilities and military bases. Pakistan, seeking to position itself as a regional mediator, has facilitated talks between Washington and Tehran while deepening its military ties with Saudi Arabia and Turkey. The Mecca defense agreement, signed in August, stipulates that an attack on one member would be considered an attack on all. Meanwhile, China has privately urged Iran to use its influence with the Houthis to prevent further disruption to energy routes crucial to China.
