First Adult Tyrannosaurus Rex Footprints Discovered in North Dakota

A team of scientists from the Denver Museum of Nature & Science and Liverpool John Moores University has identified the first known series of footprints of an adult Tyrannosaurus rex. The track, discovered in the Hell Creek geological formation in southwestern North Dakota, consists of four footprints (two left and two right) measuring approximately 91 cm in length and spaced about 3.96 meters apart. The footprints, dated 66.5 million years old, allow for the estimation of the animal's speed, calculated to be between 5.6 to 7.2 km/h, similar to a person walking briskly. This discovery provides valuable insights into the behavior and locomotion of the iconic dinosaur.
