Ukraine is deploying small teams of drone specialists to Africa and the Middle East to train local forces, support anti-Russian groups, and target Russian interests. Around 15 Ukrainian specialists are operating in northern Mali alongside Tuareg rebels, providing drone training and remote operational support. Ukrainian personnel have also trained forces from Chad, Niger, and Burkina Faso, and several specialists have operated in Sudan. In Libya, Ukrainian naval drone operators are attacking Russia's sanctions-evading 'shadow fleet'. Ukraine has also sent teams to at least five Middle Eastern countries to teach shooting down Iranian Shahed drones. Ukrainian officials say these overseas missions aim to weaken Russia and test Ukrainian drone technology under different battlefield conditions.
