British Army Tests Horses for Modern Warfare

The British Army is exploring the use of horses in modern combat, particularly in terrains where heavy machinery struggles. Soldiers from the Royal Horse Regiment and Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment have been practicing mounted reconnaissance, navigating complex terrain, camouflage, supply, and animal care at Longmoor Training Area in Hampshire. The initiative is inspired by the experience of allied countries like Estonia, which continues to use horses in operational conditions. The British Army believes that horses could be beneficial where modern technology faces limitations, such as dense forests, mountains, or marshy terrain.
