A study by Binghamton University researchers found that the habit of taking screenshots can negatively impact memory retention. In seven experiments involving 677 students, participants who took screenshots remembered images less well (69.5%) compared to those who couldn't save them (78%). They also recalled the image source less accurately (53.5% vs. 71.3%). This phenomenon is dubbed 'digital amnesia'.
