Overcrowded Dwelling in Mallorca: Up to 30 People Living in Precarious Conditions

National Police and Balearic Government inspectors discovered an overcrowded dwelling in Manacor, Mallorca, where up to 30 people were living in unsafe and suboptimal conditions. The property, with a total cadastral area of 228 square meters, had six rooms separated by curtains, a courtyard where six people slept, and multiple shared kitchens and bathrooms. Occupants paid between 80 and 100 euros per person, regardless of room-sharing. The Housing Law considers such overcrowding a very serious infraction, with fines ranging from 30,001 to 90,000 euros.
