Supreme Court Allows Judicial Review of Trudeau's WE Charity Ethics Ruling

The Supreme Court of Canada has ruled that a watchdog group can proceed with a court challenge of a federal ethics report on Justin Trudeau's involvement in decisions concerning WE Charity. The top court found that a provision of the Conflict of Interest Act barring such a challenge is unconstitutional. The ruling overturns a decision by the Federal Court of Appeal, which dismissed the application for judicial review. The ethics commissioner had concluded in 2021 that Trudeau did not breach the Conflict of Interest Act in his participation with WE Charity.
