World's First Approved Implantable Brain-Computer Interface for Prosthetic Hand Control

A brain-computer interface (BCI) system, NEO, developed by Newrail and Tsinghua University, has received the world's first approval for sale in China. This implantable device allows paralyzed patients to move prosthetic hands using only their thoughts. It reads electrical signals from the brain and translates them into movements. The approval comes amidst growing competition between the U.S. and China in the field of bioscience, with China advancing in manufacturing, data construction, and commercialization of BCIs.
