Argentina Aims for Formula 1 Return as FIA Congress Kicks Off

Argentina hosted the American Congress of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) for the first time in fifteen years, with President Javier Milei pushing for Argentina to become the venue for Formula 1 and the World Rally Championship again. The president of the FIA, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, expressed support for Argentina's aspirations, noting that the country deserves to host these events on its own merit. The Buenos Aires City Autodrome is undergoing a $150 million structural reform to potentially host Formula 1 again. Argentina last hosted an F1 race on April 12, 1998. Ben Sulayem also discussed the possibility of the World Rally Championship returning to Argentina before Formula 1 and hinted at the potential inclusion of Argentine sporting commissaires in F1 races.
