Kagawa Governor Ikeda Wins Landslide Re-election

Toyohito Ikeda, the incumbent governor of Kagawa Prefecture, has secured re-election in Sunday's gubernatorial poll. Running as an independent candidate endorsed by major parties, Ikeda defeated three independent challengers. Voter turnout was 35.68%, up from the previous election. Ikeda's victory was attributed to his pledge to expand support for child-rearing families and businesses, and his endorsement by both ruling and opposition parties. This election also marked the first use of electronic voting at the gubernatorial level since 2004.
