China Warns of Imminent Flood Risk from Barrier Lake in Nepal

China's Ministry of Water Resources has reported the formation of a significant barrier lake near the confluence of the Chhochen Khola and Purepu Tsangpo rivers in Nepal. As of Thursday morning, the lake contained 2 million cubic meters of water and was already overflowing. An additional 3 million cubic meters of water is expected to flow into the lake over the next three days, posing a high risk of breach and subsequent flooding. The lake is estimated to hold up to 50 million cubic meters of water, raising serious concerns for Nepal's safety in the next 72 hours.
