Andalusian President Demands Reactivation of Elite Civil Guard Unit Against Drug Trafficking

Juanma Moreno, the President of the Andalusian Government, has sent a letter to Pedro Sánchez demanding the reactivation of OCON-Sur, an elite unit of the Civil Guard specialized in fighting drug trafficking. Moreno's request comes after an increase in violence by drug traffickers, including a shooting with three fatalities in Isla Cristina and an attack on a Civil Guard patrol boat. Moreno argues that the unit was effective in containing these mafias and asks for its reactivation to tackle drug trafficking and the lack of adequate means by security forces.
