African Swine Fever Spreads in Serbia, Eight Districts Affected

African swine fever has spread to eight districts in Serbia, according to Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Dragan Glamocic. The disease has been confirmed in the districts of Mačva, Srem, Obrenovac, and South Banat, with a total of 33,850 pigs having died or been euthanized since the beginning of the year. Glamocic emphasized that the virus is most commonly spread through wild boars and non-compliance with biosafety measures on farms. He also noted that there is still no vaccine against the disease, and the only effective measure is the euthanasia of infected animals.
