Think Tank Calls for U.S. Military Presence in Caribbean to Counter Cuba Threat

A report by the America First Policy Institute (AFPI), a think tank linked to former U.S. President Donald Trump's administration, recommends reestablishing a permanent U.S. military presence in the Caribbean to keep Cuba, considered a threat to national security, under control. The analysis suggests expanding access agreements, overflight rights, and cooperative security locations with trusted partners, rather than building large permanent bases. It also advises increasing economic pressure on Cuba by seeking additional Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) designations and severing Havana’s ties with countries like Russia and China. The report calls for removing the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) from power and demands elections, reforms, and accountability for past abuses.
