The Panama Canal will decrease its daily transit capacity starting in September due to rainfall below expectations and the risk posed by the El Niño phenomenon. This is the second time in history that such a measure is taken, following similar restrictions in 2023 and 2024. The transit reduction will be gradual, initially to 34 daily slots and later to 32.
