Russia's Chief Economist Predicts Defeat in 'War of Attrition' and Social Crisis

He believes that new sanctions and Ukrainian military strikes on Russian infrastructure are significant barriers to economic growth, with potential growth rates not exceeding 1-1.5%. Klepach predicts a social crisis in Russia due to these factors and draws parallels with the February Revolution of 1917 and the collapse of the Soviet Union. Ukraine's economy, despite partial destruction and demographic catastrophe, is surviving due to Western aid. Klepach was later fired from his position, reportedly due to his statements.
