Delhi Metro's Exceptional Punctuality and Reliability

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has set global standards for train punctuality and reliability. Despite its extensive network and growing fleet, Delhi Metro maintained an exceptional punctuality rate of 99.95% in 2026, outperforming renowned systems like Hong Kong MTR, Paris Metro, and New York Subway. DMRC considers a train late if it arrives more than 59 seconds late, demonstrating its commitment to high operational standards. The system has consistently maintained 99.9% train punctuality since joining the ranks of elite metro systems in 2005. Headway between trains has also improved significantly, reducing from seven minutes initially to just 2 minutes and 18 seconds on busiest corridors. Delhi Metro's Mean Distance Between Failures (MDBF) is 2.72 million car-kilometers, placing it among the top five most reliable metro systems worldwide. The network has grown to 12 lines, 303 stations, and 416.5 kilometers, with 31 interchange stations, handling over 64 million daily passengers.
