    Hong Kong Suspends U.S. Poultry Imports Due to Avian Flu Outbreak

    Hong Kong's food safety authority has announced the suspension of poultry meat and product imports from Kittitas County, Washington, following an outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian flu. This includes eggs. The move comes after the World Organisation for Animal Health reported the incident to the Food Safety Center. Hong Kong imported approximately 33,270 metric tons of chilled and frozen poultry meat and around 92.33 million eggs from the US in the first nine months of this year.
