Mexican Man Dies in ICE Custody in Texas
A 56-year-old Mexican man, Emiliano Andrade-Covarrubias, has died while in ICE detention at the Rio Grande Processing Center in Laredo, Texas. This is the seventh such death in Texas this year and the 18th among Mexican nationals since January 20, 2025. Andrade-Covarrubias' family alleges he was denied medication for diabetes, high blood pressure, and a heart condition.

Ethics Commission Approves Suspension of Deputy Pérez Mallqui for 120 Days
The Ethics Commission of the Chamber of Deputies approved a report recommending the suspension of Deputy Julián Pérez Mallqui from Juntos por el Perú for 120 days. The decision follows an investigation that concluded Pérez Mallqui exercised physical and psychological violence against his ex-partner. The commission voted 5-1 in favor of the recommendation, with Jessica Pérez Quispe casting the sole dissenting vote. The Public Ministry maintains a separate investigation into the same acts of aggression.
