    NASA Tests Next-Gen Heat Shields for Moon, Mars Landings

    NASA is testing heat shields for future Moon and Mars missions using the Cygnus cargo spacecraft's re-entry. The Kentucky Reentry Probe Experiment (KREPE-3) involves 12 mini-capsules carrying various heat shield materials, including 3D-printed shields and those intended for Mars missions like Dragonfly. The capsules, designed by University of Kentucky students, collect data on temperature, pressure, and other parameters during re-entry.
