    Russia Launches Digital Ruble

    Starting September 1, major banks in Russia will allow clients to access and use the digital ruble, a new form of national currency supplementing cashless and cash transactions. The Central Bank demonstrated how to open and top up a digital ruble wallet. Key features include free transfers and payments for citizens, no limits for businesses, and the ability to pay for purchases, taxes, and budget payments.     Xylitol Linked to Higher Risk of Heart Attack and Stroke

    A large-scale study involving over 17,000 people found that high blood levels of xylitol, a common artificial sweetener used in gum, mint candies, and other products, were associated with a higher risk of heart attack, stroke, and death. The risk was 57% higher over six years and 18% higher over 30 years. The study suggests a dose-dependent relationship, meaning the higher the xylitol levels, the higher the cardiovascular event rate. This association was independent of other factors such as age, sex, body mass index, hypertension, diabetes, and lipid levels.
