Russia Unveils New Su-57 Missile for Global Sale
Russia has presented the RVV-SDM, a new medium-range air-to-air missile developed for the Su-57 and other Russian combat aircraft. The missile is designed to destroy various air targets, including combat aircraft, helicopters, drones, and cruise missiles, even in the presence of electronic countermeasures. Its guidance system combines inertial navigation, mid-course radio correction, and an active radar seeker for the final attack phase. The 'fire and forget' capability allows the Su-57 to take off, change course, and leave the threatened area while the missile completes the final interception phase independently. The RVV-SDM occupies the medium range of the Su-57's air-to-air arsenal, between the short-range RVV-MD2 and the long-range RVV-BD. Rosoboronexport also offers the missile with the Su-57E and claims that it can be integrated onto other Russian combat aircraft after appropriate modifications.4 sourcesSee all sources
